Construction on Jeff Bezo’s megamansion in Beverly Hills has been halted pending approval of his application to expand the property to over 15,000 square feet, The Post has learned.

An initial application for a Hillside R-1 permit was submitted in 2021 but was rejected due to technical incompleteness.

It was later approved until 59-year-old Bezos filed a new application to add a “playfield fence with lights,” which was filed in January this year, project filings show.

But the Amazon founder’s application was again rejected for incompleteness.

“Now he’s submitting a new application for a different scale of this build, and he can’t build at the scale associated with the application,” senior urban planner Judy Gutierrez told the Post.

“The Hillside R-1 permit, filed in January 2023, has not been scheduled for a Planning Commission hearing,” Gutierrez added, meaning the renovation work will remain on hold indefinitely pending a hearing.

Bezos’ original application for 2021, which received urban planning approval last April, submitted applications to build a new pool house, powder room and retaining walls, adding approximately 1,000 square feet to the 28,000-square-foot mansion.

The home’s previous owner, film and music industry magnate David Geffen, 80, had obtained permits to exceed the maximum allowable floor space of 15,000 square feet, but no more.

“The maximum allowable floor area would be 69,139 square feet,” according to a Beverly Hills Planning Commission report.

Photos obtained by The Post show aerial views of the house at a standstill, with construction equipment on the ground but no workers.

The Post has reached out to Bezos’ reps for comment.

Bezos dropped $165 million for the nearly 10-acre property in 2020.

But the move doesn’t seem to affect his recent swoop, which showed the net worth of the founder, chairman, and former Amazon president and CEO fell by $57 billion over the past year.

This was due to a 38% drop in Amazon’s stock price on March 10.

Known as the legendary Jack Warner Estate after the former president of Warner Bros. Entertainment, the $165 million deal set a record in Los Angeles until Marc Andreessen beat Bezos’ record and paid $177 million in 2021 for an expansive 7th -More terrain in Malibu paid.

Previously, the title went to media executive Lachlan Murdoch, who paid $150 million for the Bel Air estate known as Chartwell, which served as the Clampett residence on the popular 1960s television show The Beverly Hillbillies.

The site now includes a three-story main house, guest house, gym, pergola, and guardhouse.

The new pool house will be around 697 square meters. The guest toilet will be underground.
