Players can expect brand new subquests, available via the merchant, to greatly expand the gameplay. Additionally, the QTEs from the original game have been replaced by a new parry mechanic, and players will now have more freedom in approaching enemies, including the use of stealth. The knife has also been upgraded to a more powerful weapon, but with limited uses. Leon’s mobility options have also been improved, with quicker turning and a new quick dodge mechanic.
Previously, it was announced that the Resident Evil 4 Remake will include both a New Game Plus and a Photo Mode. In a Game Informer video, director Yasuhiro Ampo and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi also confirmed these features.
The Village in the remake will be larger than in the original game, while the Island will have significant level design changes but may be similar in length to the original island. Additionally, Ada will have a major role in the remake.
As for control scheme options, the developers stated that there is a scheme that emulates the original Resident Evil 4 controls, but it is not identical, as Leon can now perform new actions not present in the original game. Overall, fans can look forward to an exciting and expanded experience with the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake.
