New Delhi: There are times when you feel pains and aches constantly for weeks at a stretch, but you ignore it, or just take over-the-counter medicines to get over it. However, health experts say the pain you feel anywhere across the body can either just be ordinary or serious depending on its origin.
Doctors warn that ignoring certain kinds of pains can have dire consequences like missing signs of chest pain that can eventually cause a heart attack or cardiac arrest.
The harm you may have caused to your body will not always be visible from the outside and ignoring it can worsen the damage. Hence, take note of these symptoms and know why you should seek medical advice immediately.
According to health experts, chest pain can spread to your back or arms, and range from varied ailments like heartburn, pneumonia, or a heart attack. Of all the pains, chest pain, the doctors say chest pain can be the worst, and most worrisome.
Chest pain can either be dull or sharp, and can make you feel tight, achy, or like your chest is being crushed or squeezed. The pain can last a few minutes or even hours. In some cases, it can last six months or longer.
According to doctors, a few reasons for chest pain include:
Stomach pain can come suddenly or happen gradually, and can require surgery, medical evaluation, or aggressive treatment in the long run.
Back pain is one of the most serious and common types of pain, and a recurring health problem that many people experience as they get older. As a result, developing a management plan for back pain can be complex.
Doctors suggest consulting health experts if the back pain is moderate to severe or lasts for two weeks or more. If you keep ignoring it, the pain can also cause numbness or weakness in the leg.
Headache is something most of us experience every day. However, when it becomes critical, it needs to be addressed immediately.
According to doctors, a few reasons why you get splitting headaches would include migraine, high blood pressure, or even a cerebral hemorrhage or tumour.
The day you overexert yourself with lots of physical activity, you are bound to feel tired, and experience soreness in the legs. However, if it becomes a common and recurring phenomenon, there is something gravely wrong.
Doctors say the most worrisome is pain with tenderness or swelling in one leg because of the possibility of a blood clot, which can be life-threatening if not diagnosed or treated well in time.
Leg pain can be associated with lower back pain usually known as sciatica. Any leg pain that seems to be getting worse or is affecting movement — you’re unable to raise your foot, for instance — should be checked by a physician.
